COVID-19 Closure - Service Updates
3/22/20: Tutoring is closed and face-to-face meetings are unavailable at this time. However, many of our SMCC tutors are now online and available to help, via BlackBoard Collaborate and the Google Suite of products/services. Please click the “Drop-In Schedules” and/or “Dept. Tutoring Schedules” tabs to review our schedules and make an appointment with a tutor. To schedule a session with a writing tutor, please visit the Writing Center page.
If you don't see the subjects or availability you're looking for, SmarThinking online tutoring also remains available to students. Please click the “Online Tutoring” tab to connect with that service. Support for many subjects is available 24/7!
For more information from the college, please visit SMCC’s COVID-19 information page: https://www.smccme.edu/about/coronavirus-covid-19/

In addition to regular staff, tutoring is provided by faculty and trained peer tutors in a friendly, welcoming environment. All peer tutors who work in the Learning Commons are required to complete a 10-hour tutor training program, which is certified by CRLA.
Tutoring Services central location is within the Learning Commons, but we actually provide services across both campuses and online. Embedded Department Tutoring allows students to get assistance convenient to academic department locations and SmarThinking's online tutoring provides extensive night and weekend coverage. We offer subject tutoring as well as study skills assistance for all currently registered students in a friendly, welcoming environment. Group study space and individual rooms for quiet study are also available.
Tutoring by appointment is now available!
Our new scheduling policy will create a limited number of 30 minute tutoring appointments for some subjects as well as writing. If you are interested in scheduling a session, please see the front desk.
The drop-in schedule will remain the same!
WISH (Workshops In Studying Here at SMCC) are half hour workshops on college success and study skills. This semester we're trying something new and holding face-to-face WISH workshops by appointment only.
They'll still take a half hour and they'll still cover the success skills you're hoping to learn - they just won't be happening as "drop-ins." If you would like to schedule a WISH consultation for yourself, or even a small study group, please see the Tutoring Front Desk or call 741-5535.
And don't forget: if you're pressed for time, you can also learn the WISH skills through online workshops in BlackBoard!
