SMCC is pleased to offer our students free access to online tutoring, SmarThinking, through Pearson. Submit yourp papers ahead of time and have them reviewed by professionals, or get help with other subjects when and where you need it most.
Getting started is easy with the access button, but you may be asked to login one more time. If that happens, just use your MySMCC username and password!
The Brightspace app is designed especially for students to view content and participate in courses. The app is available on iOS and Android Mobile devices.

All online courses are in Brightspace. Brightspace is the Learning Management System for SMCC. Click here to access Brightspace.
Some face to face courses use the e-learning plaform in MySMCC to post class work and announcements. Click here to access MySMCC.
SMCC uses the Google Email suite for school email. All students and faculty use their school issued GMail account to communicate. Along with email, students have access to Google Drive, Calendar, Youtube and Hangouts. Click here to access SMCC GMail.

The college offers three online orientations that will help online students learn the ropes and provide students with tools to thrive in their online courses. All students are automatically enrolled in these orientations, so all you need to do is click through and get started. After you complete an orientation, you will be provided with a certificate of completion.
The SMCC Library Orientation is designed to show you how to access and use key Library resources. Office 365: SMCC offers the Microsoft Office Suite to all students and faculty. The Office Suite includes: Word, Powerpoint, Excel, and OneNote. Access these resources with your SMCC ID and password. Click here to access Office 365.
Firefox: The best web browser to use with Brightspace is Firefox. Firefox is a free and open-source web browser developed by Mozilla Foundation. Firefox is available for Windows, macOS and Linux operating systems. Click here to download Firefox.
PDF: Some courses use PDF files. Your computer will need to be able to open PDF files. If you find your computer cannot open a PDF file, you will want to download and install the free Adobe PDF reader. Click here to download the Adobe PDF Reader.
Google Drive is a part of your school Gmail account. Google Drive allows you store files, create word, powerpoint and excel documents. It also allows you to share files with your classmates and instructors. Click here to access Google Drive.
MyWorkSpace is a remote desktop solution that enables students to connect via the internet to a virtual desktop. Need access to a PC or custom software for your course? MyWorkSpace will allow you to start a virtual desktop on your PC, Mac or Chromebook. Click here to learn more about MyWorkSpace.
The SMCC Learning Commons is student-friendly center for research, study, writing and tutoring. Both the South Portland and MidCoast Campuses have a learning commons for student use.
