Center for Teaching & Learning: PLC Group

SPRING 2023

What is a PLC?

A PLC is a Professional Learning Community. It's a group of faculty that get together to problem solve issues or concerns in their teaching practice. Unlike the Faculty Conversations which cover teaching topics at large, the PLC serves as an opportunity to problem solve a challenge that a member of the PLC brings the group.

How does a PLC work?

The members rotate who brings a question or concern to the group. The presenting member will often share materials with the group in advance of the meeting. When the group meets, they brainstorm ideas to solve the problem. Over time the group may check in with a member about how they're doing with their problem. The group meets regularly but has a finite number of meetings which the group establishes at their first meeting.
