This appointment is held in the Writing Center, on the second floor of Campus Center.

Online Synchronous/Real-Time Writing Button

If drop-ins don't work for your schedule, consider an online appointment. Evening, weekend, and limited weekday hours are available. Take a look and see what works for you!

Online Asynchronous/Essay Submission Button

You can also submit an essay online for feedback. This appointment type is held online, with NO real-time or Zoom component, so it's great for busy schedules! You will share your document with a writing tutor by your chosen appointment time, and a tutor will provide written support within 24 hours after your appointment time.

Please note that in-person writing support at the Midcoast campus is available from 10-1 on Tuesdays and 9:30-11:30 on Wednesdays. Students at the Midcoast are encouraged to make an online appointment outside these hours.

Please note: Online writing submissions are now being done in Word, via Microsoft365 with your @mainecc.edu email address. Please follow these directions to properly share and grant edit permissions to your tutor:

  1. With your document open in Microsoft 365, select “Share” from the upper right corner of your doc.
  2. Select "Copy Link" from the drop-down menu. When the "Link copied" box pops up, select "Settings" from the bottom right corner of this box.
  3. From the "Link settings" menu, select to share with people in the MCCS system, and use the "More settings" drop-down to select "Can edit" (with the pencil icon).
  4. The "Link copied box" will appear again and your new, accurate link has been copied, even if you can't see the URL.
  5. Create a new email message to SMCCWritingCenter@mainecc.edu and paste the link into the message space. Please include your appointment date/time and name in the subject line.
  6. Now just send the email to complete sharing your document with the Writing Center!

You can also refer to this document for more detailed directions (with pictures!) on the new procedure to share your work.
