Academic Strategies

TRIO SSS is a diverse community of motivated students who are empowered to use their core values and strengths to reach their graduation, transfer and career goals. Eligible students are paired with a professional college Success Coach who will collaborate with them to inspire academic and individual growth with personalized advising from the first day of college through graduation. TRIO SSS supports student success and engagement through peer connections, workshops, and events that cultivate the skills needed to stay on track, overcome challenges and thrive in college.

Library Resources
The Library is staffed by an expert team of professionals dedicated to empowering students to become independent learners who are proficient and comfortable with the use of library tools and resources.

Tutoring Schedule
Certified tutors in various subjects and study skills are available online, in the Learning Commons, and at the South Portland and Midcoast campuses. Tutoring is offered for drop-in or scheduled sessions, either for individual help or study groups at each location.

Book With The Writing Center
The Writing Center offers professional and in-person peer tutoring and online assistance with writing assignments for any SMCC class on a drop-in or appointment basis.
